Baby Storytime

Every Wednesday, Hattie and I go to Baby Storytime at the Saratoga Library. The librarian blows bubbles, sings songs and reads books. Hattie is more fascinated with the other children than the stories.

#1 Dad in the World

My Daddy rushed all the way home from Iraq so he could spend Father's Day with me...he is the best! That's why I smile in all my pictures.

For Father's Day he got a book called, "Daddy's Girl" that he read to me in bed right after I woke him up. I wore a pink bow in my hair and my favorite pink pants.

We went down to spend Father's Day with Grandpa and Grandma Garibay and Uncle Nathan. I got extra sleep from the drives to and from Los Banos.

Of Course We Missed It

Lately Hattie has been so close to rolling over from her back to her tummy. Yesterday she was especially close, and Randy and I "just knew" that this was the day. She rolled several times and just before she landed on her tummy, she would roll back over. We sat on the floor with her, cheering her on, "Come on Baby!" "You can do it." The whole time she laughed but never rolled completely over. I even had my camera on her ready to catch it. Half-hour later, and still nothing, it was time for her nap. I put her in her crib and checked on her 5-minutes later. Well guess what? Yep. We found her on her tummy. Figures.

5 Months and A New Friend

5 months already??? I remember thinking, "When she is 5 months old, Randy will be home." Now that day is finally here. Her personality is starting to show. She's a very happy baby. During those few weeks of colic, I never thought I would say that.
She:
-is 14lbs. 8oz.
-is 24 inches
-is starting to grow out of her 3-month clothing
-has eczema :(
-has finally noticed Cameron (our cat, to his dismay)
-is so close to rolling over from her back to her tummy
-takes 3-4 naps a day
-sleeps from 6pm-6am with one wake up to eat
-has a favortie toy: Jacque the Peacock
-"talks" constantly

Her new friend is this camel that Randy brought back from Iraq. She stares at it with a look of bewilderment.

Bonding Time

Hattie and Randy are spending lots of time together. It's so fun watching them play and bond. She lights up when he walks into the room and he gets so excited when she wakes up from her naps. They love to spend time together.

Blowing Raspberries

Last weekend she learned how to blow "raspberries." She can entertain herself for several minutes. It is really cute to hear, but she drools all over herself. I have been trying to get this on video, but she stops by the time I remember to grab the camera.

I did it! I did it!

I finally cut her nails. Up until this point, I have been waiting until a nail breaks, then I would rip it off. I was too scared to take nail clippers to them. Babies have very small nails, and I was terrified of cutting her. I got the courage to clip them this weekend while she was asleep. Now I have to get the courage to cut them next week!

Mother's Day

I have waited 32 years for this day-my first Mother's Day. Even Hattie knew it was a special day for me-she went down very easily for all of her naps.
We met my parents in Gilroy and had lunch. Afterwards Hattie and I shopped. All of the items I bought were for her. She has a closet full of clothing. I need to stop.
Happy Mother's Day!!!

4 Months and Official Orders

Lots of big and exciting changes this past month.
She:
-is 13lbs. 8 oz. and 23 inches
-laughs huge belly laughs when I sing or make funny faces at her
-has rolled over from her tummy to her back four times (all in the last week)
-was sleeping through the night last week (6pm-6am), but has gone back to waking up once per night to eat
-still has her blue eyes
-says "mum" many times a day (I know she is not calling my name, but I pretend she is :) )
-enjoys her baby storytime at the library
-drools constantly
-has out of control hair

Randy has received his official orders to come home. He can't give the exact date, but it will be very soon. Yippee!

Are You Kidding Me?

How many people do you know that have to buy hair detangler for their 3-month old? When she wakes up, the back of her head is such a mess. Since she thrashers around when she sleeps, she wakes up with a big tangled mess. I have to very carefully brush them out. I finally decided to buy detangler. Keep your fingers crossed that it works.

AnnaMayer.com

When Hattie was four days old, we had a photographer, Anna Mayer, come to our home and take photos. Just wanted to direct you to her blog where she has put up some photos of Hattie. If you read the comment section, you will see what a certain proud daddy wrote. If you have the time, leave her a comment too. I'm sure she would love to hear about your thoughts on Hattie's photos.

One Year Ago Today...

we found out we were expecting this little one. I will never forget that day. I took the test early in the morning, but didn't look at the results until a few hours later. We had to drive John and Jenny to the SF airport in the morning, but I couldn't hold "it" until we got back, so I took the test, put it under the sink, drove to SF, waited for Randy to go to work, then I looked at it. If it was positive, I wanted to surprise Randy when he got home. If it was negative, I knew I would be disappointed, and I didn't want anyone to know. So I waited. When I saw the word "pregnant," I broke out in tears. I was soooo happy. I thought that the next 9 months were going to be the longest of my life. Looking back, time went by quickly. I feel so lucky to be this little girl's mama. She makes me smile every single day. I can't imagine my life without her. She brings so much joy to people and I can't wait to watch her grow and learn new things. I'm so in love.
p.s. I am one pound away from the weight in that photo of me. Woohoo! Go me!

Highlight

Every morning I am greeted by a huge smile. I stand behind her bassinet and say, "Where's my Hattie Baaaabbbyyyy?" and she starts moving her body, laughing, grinning and squealing. She looks back at me and squeals louder. It is the highlight of my morning. I am so happy she wakes up happy-unlike her mama.

100 Days Old

She has been in our lives for 100 days. I can't believe it. I have changed 8-10 diapers a day for 100 days. You do the math.

Sleeping in the Crib...

for naps that is. She finally takes most of her naps in her crib. Sometimes she will protest, but within minutes she is asleep. Up until now, she either slept in my arms, in a front carrier or her swing. Her naps last anywhere from 15 minutes (seriously) to 3 hours (yippee!). She sleeps in a bassinet in our room in the evening.
These photos were taken when Martha visited in March.

Her Hands

In the last week, Hattie has started to use her hands more and more. She is using them to grab objects and swat at hanging toys. She loves to put them in her mouth, keep them open (vs. fists) and put them together (holds her own hands). She often stares at them as if they are the most fascinating things she has ever seen.
