Making of a Doll 1 of 2

I have always wanted to learn how to sew, so I bought a doll pattern off of etsy.com and brought the materials to Idaho. Jenny is a fabulous seamstress and she said she would help me. Thank goodness, because I had no idea what I was doing and she helped me tremendously! Jenny, Marne and I sewed two dolls; one for Hattie and one for Sadie. I think they came out so cute and I am hoping to make another one soon.

Teething

Guess who has a little tooth coming in and is not happy about it?
Baby Orajel is our best friend.

Halloween Party

Hattie went to a Halloween Party this afternoon. There were about 20 or so babies at the party. There were several that we hadn't seen for a couple of months, and it was fun to see how much they have grown.

Fly Fishing

More Idaho pictures. During the last week we were there, we were joined by my parents. My dad, Randy and John fly fished a few times. My mom, Jenny and I were "lucky" enough (rolling eyes) to go with them on one of their fishing trips. After many, many (did I mention "many") hours, they did not catch anything and we went home. The next day the three men went out and caught a few fish for dinner that night. It was delicious and we were all impressed.

17.3

Hattie had her 9-month doctor's appointment this week. She weighs 17 lbs. and 3oz. She is also 26 3/4 in. Both are in the 25%. Short parents=small baby. She stared at herself in the mirror most of the appointment. I love the look on her face in the first picture. It is so hurry-and-take-the-photo-because-everyone-can-see-how-much-I-weigh.
And today was an exciting day. She signed "more milk" after she finished her bottle.

Pumpkin Patch 1 of 3

We went to Joan's Farm in Livermore over the weekend. It is a nice pumpkin patch with tons of pumpkins, hay rides, pony rides, a corn maze and a petting zoo. Hattie was fascinated with the goats and she had a great time on the pony. I thought she was going to cry and want off, but she smiled and laughed the whole time.
Since we took so many photos, I have three posts. Scroll down for the other two.

9 Months and Great-Grandparents

I think I say this every month, but the change in her in the last 4 weeks has been amazing. It seems as if she learns something new everyday. It is very exciting to watch her grow and learn.
This was the hardest photo shoot yet. Out of 54 pictures, I was able to get this one-she is looking at the camera, smiling and sitting down. I am going to need an assistant next month.
She:
-signs "milk" and "cat" and is learning the sign for "more" and "dog"
-claps her hands when she hears/sees others clap theirs
-still does not have a tooth, but we think it will pop out any day (I'll post more about that later)
-pulls herself up in her crib (see yesterday's post)
-loves apples (pureed for now)
-still sleeps through the night (6-6)
-is down to 2 naps a day :(
-needs her bangs cut (we're going to wait awhile)
-crawls (sigh)
-shakes her head "no"
-says "dada" and "dad" but no "mama" (figures)
-has grown out of her 6-month clothing
-has her 9-month doctor's appointment next week, so we'll find out how much she weighs/how long she is
-waves to people
-points to objects and pictures in books
-looks when her name is called

On Saturday, we drove to Placerville and visited with my grandparents. This was the first time Hattie was able to meet them. I loved watching the three of them interact. We are hoping to see them again at Christmas. In 3 weeks we will be flying to Chicago to visit with Randy's grandpa. It will also be their first time meeting too.

Oh Boy! She's Learned a New Skill

This morning I put her in her crib for her morning nap. She whined for a bit, then become quiet. I was so happy that she fell asleep quickly. All of a sudden, she started screaming. I thought that maybe her leg was caught between the bars in her crib (it has happened before). When I opened her door, I saw her standing in her crib. This was the first time she had pulled herself up, and she didn't know how to get back down. Poor thing! She was terrified. So I did what any good mother would do, I grabbed my camera, took several photos of her, then helped her back down. We played this fun little game a few times before she finally settled down for her nap.

Fireworks

We lit fireworks off the dock. They actually looked better than what you see here, but I am horrible at taking pictures of fireworks. Hattie fell asleep before this happened, so she missed them. I think she will be able to appreciate them more next year anyway.

S'mores

The pictures you've all been waiting for...all of us eating S'mores! We made and ate them while waiting to shoot off fireworks (those exciting photos are next). Enjoy!

Celebrating the 4th

I am trying to finish Idaho pictures before Halloween!

Here are some photos of us in McCall at John and Jenny's cabin. Hattie and Sadie wore matching outfits and they looked adorable. Jenny's potato salad was delicious (btw Jenny, I want your recipe) and the S'mores were perfect (photos of those later).
