Sweet Potatoes

I'm interrupting Idaho updates with a few photos we took of Hattie today. We fed her sweet potatoes for the first time. The only other "solid" food she has eaten has been rice cereal. If this goes well, we will be introducing either bananas or avocados next. She seemed to enjoy them and even reached for the container a few times. We pureed the potato ourselves. We are planning to make most of her food. The process of microwaving the potato (my favorite way to cook) and then blending was fairly simple. We have a book called, "Super Baby Food" and it outlines which foods to introduce and how to make everything. So far so good.

A Birthday Celebration

While we were in Idaho, Mike celebrated his birthday. Hattie made him a card, Randy made dinner and everyone had a wonderful time at his party. Unfortunately, at the last minute, Mike had to return to Boise. Sorry Mike, but we had a great time.

Back From Idaho

We are back from Idaho. Lots of things to share. We had a great time. The weather was perfect, the food was delicious and the company was fun. We drove 10 or so hours to get to Boise first. We stayed with Martha and Mike for the first week. These pictures are from the MK Nature Center in Boise. There are some very cool exhibits there including these very large animals. As you can see, Hattie did not seem to be bothered by them; though Randy seems a little scared.

6 Months and Another Uh...Oh

Hattie has learned so many new skills in just this past week. She is more aware of her environment and can entertain herself for long periods of time. She is a joy to be around.

She:

-can sit up all by herself (Grammy taught her)

-is consistently rolling from her back to her tummy, but still requires help to roll the other way

-was sleeping from 6pm-6am before arriving in Idaho (woohoo). In Idaho she sleeps anywhere from 6pm-8pm and wakes up at 11pm, 1am, 3am, 5am, 7am (boohoo)

-loves watching dogs and laughs hysterically at them

-will be starting solids soon

-can put her toes into her mouth

-is a great traveler in her carseat during long car drives

We have begun a tradition when traveling to or from Idaho-we must get a ticket. This time Randy got one leaving Winnemucca, NV for driving 40 in a 25. Last year he got one in Cascade, ID. (See January 2007) I wonder where we will get our next one.

Gotta Love Hand Me Downs

A friend of a friend (thanks Amy and Tilena) gave us this Exersaucer for Hattie to play with. At about 5 months she was finally strong enough to sit up in it. She grabs and spins the toys and pushes buttons to make music play. Her max is about 20 minutes before she wants out-just enough time for us to eat dinner.

Half Moon Bay

Last week we took Hattie to the beach for the first time. Unfortunately it was a little cold and the sun was too bright, so she was not impressed. She did, however, love the shopping down Main St.

Baby Storytime

Every Wednesday, Hattie and I go to Baby Storytime at the Saratoga Library. The librarian blows bubbles, sings songs and reads books. Hattie is more fascinated with the other children than the stories.

#1 Dad in the World

My Daddy rushed all the way home from Iraq so he could spend Father's Day with me...he is the best! That's why I smile in all my pictures.

For Father's Day he got a book called, "Daddy's Girl" that he read to me in bed right after I woke him up. I wore a pink bow in my hair and my favorite pink pants.

We went down to spend Father's Day with Grandpa and Grandma Garibay and Uncle Nathan. I got extra sleep from the drives to and from Los Banos.

Of Course We Missed It

Lately Hattie has been so close to rolling over from her back to her tummy. Yesterday she was especially close, and Randy and I "just knew" that this was the day. She rolled several times and just before she landed on her tummy, she would roll back over. We sat on the floor with her, cheering her on, "Come on Baby!" "You can do it." The whole time she laughed but never rolled completely over. I even had my camera on her ready to catch it. Half-hour later, and still nothing, it was time for her nap. I put her in her crib and checked on her 5-minutes later. Well guess what? Yep. We found her on her tummy. Figures.

5 Months and A New Friend

5 months already??? I remember thinking, "When she is 5 months old, Randy will be home." Now that day is finally here. Her personality is starting to show. She's a very happy baby. During those few weeks of colic, I never thought I would say that.
She:
-is 14lbs. 8oz.
-is 24 inches
-is starting to grow out of her 3-month clothing
-has eczema :(
-has finally noticed Cameron (our cat, to his dismay)
-is so close to rolling over from her back to her tummy
-takes 3-4 naps a day
-sleeps from 6pm-6am with one wake up to eat
-has a favortie toy: Jacque the Peacock
-"talks" constantly

Her new friend is this camel that Randy brought back from Iraq. She stares at it with a look of bewilderment.

Bonding Time

Hattie and Randy are spending lots of time together. It's so fun watching them play and bond. She lights up when he walks into the room and he gets so excited when she wakes up from her naps. They love to spend time together.
