This is our last week of Pond Life. Starting tomorrow, we
will be learning about Camping, Hiking and Forest Animals.

I found this "Flipping Frog" game and thought Hattie might
like it. I was right! It ended up being a great fine motor
activity.

I think I found this idea on 1plus1plus1equals1 website. I found
an early reader with a pond theme, then wrote the sentences
on strips of paper. Hattie matched the sentence strips to the
book and put them in order. We found this tabletop pocket
chart in the dollar section of Target.

When Liam came over, they made their own mini ponds.
Frogs, turtles and foam lily pads.

I added pond items to their pool. Celie hoarded all of the ducks.

I found these squishy frog toys at the Dollar Tree. The girls
took turns throwing it both over and underhand into their
pool. Perfect gross motor activity.

To keep Celie busy, er I mean, to teach Celie one-to-one
correspondence, I gave her 24 plastic pond animals and
a 2-dozen egg carton. It took her 20 minutes to complete
the task because all of her animals were busy having
conversations with each other. When she finished, she
shouted, "I did it!" while waving her arms in the air.

We also participated in various odds and ends with
a pond theme. One day Hattie ate a turtle pancake
sitting on a log (bacon) for breakfast, she completed
frog puzzles (Kids Soup), put the life cycle of a frog
in order (Kids Soup), matched pictures to their sounds (Homeschool Creations)
practiced her addition skills with frogs and lily pads (Kids Soup)
and played Boggle Jr. with pond-related words. Celie matched pond
animal cards (Kids Soup) and matched numerals on the flannel board.

On Friday we went to Emma Prusch Farm and they had
several mini ponds. We saw lots of ducks, ducklings and
geese.

LOVE the egg carton activity. I can just picture her playing as she worked - just precious! Oh yes, I am your newest follower! Come check my blog out, too, if you have time!
