We read the book, "10 Apples Up on Top." Hattie drew a
picture of herself, colored ten apples, then put the apples
in numerical order.

She made an apple tree out of a paper plate and round circles.

Her friend, Liam came over. I read them the story, "The Little
House with No Doors and No Windows and a Star Inside."
When I cut open the apple for them, they were so surprised
to see the star in the middle. Their reactions were really cute.
They then made apple prints.

Hattie estimated how many seeds she thought her apple
had, then we cut open the apple. Only off by 3! She then made
a life cycle apple book from Kids Soup.

She used this addition page from Homeschool Creations,
these life cycle of an apple cards from montessoriforeveryone.com,
tracing sheets from 2teachingmommies.com and we played
Hi Ho Cherry O, but changed it to Hi Ho Apple O.

I introduced the term, "describe" and she described an
apple and I wrote down the words, made AB patterns out
of apple flavored cereal, labeled the parts of an apple from
2teachingmommies.com and rolled a die and added apple seeds
(black pom poms) from 2teachingmommies.com

Our Fall sensory box has multicolored brown rice, fake gourds,
leaves, pumpkins and a squirrel. Since taking this photo, we have
added Indian corn, real gourds and real mini pumpkins.

I love doing the apples on top activity and have printed out a black and white picture of the kids to put the apples on their heads before. The question is, why have I never numbered my apples? What a great way to teach number sequencing =)
I am so impressed with all these activities!
Love, Grammy
Great pictures! I guess it's better to dissect an apple than a frog!I love Hattie's laugh and smiles. Number three is close!
