Tot School-Camping Theme Week 1

The girls are learning about Camping, Hiking and Forest Animals
this month.

Back in June, I bought this tent for the girls, and hid it in
our garage. On Monday morning, they awoke to find the tent and
all of the camping gear set up in the family room. A little
while later, I heard them talking about stars and shooting stars.
I walked out into the family room to see them looking up at
the bare ceiling "counting" stars. I pulled out my Slice machine
and we cut out and decorated stars.

Tracing activity and numeral sequencing puzzle from
2teachingmommies.com. The third picture is of Celie watching
Hattie through homemade binoculars.

Liam came over and the kids made a campfire out of toilet
paper tubes and s'mores from craft sticks and cotton balls.

For snack and a math activity, the kids counted out 10 pretzels,
chocolate and marshmallows (couldn't find the raisins) and
made trail mix. I asked Hattie which one was her favorite,
and she held up the chocolate.

Hattie playing with her campfire and s'mores.

I gave Celie this tent picture from 2teachingmommies and
had her place magnetic circles on it. When she was finished,
I gave her a magnetic wand to pick up the pieces. She thought
this was the funniest thing ever.

The "campfire" was such a cute idea. We have a camping theme planned for later in our school year, and I definitely will have to remember this activity. Thanks for sharing. -Lindsey

We are actually starting a camping theme next week! I love the fire and the 'smores'. What a great way to encourage pretend play. I love that they were part of making it. I will definitely need to remember this.

I saw this cute little snack and thought you might be interested in it.
